By comparing the magical creatures within Harry Potter to the nineteenth-century freak show, the mistreatment and lack of concern for the basic rights of centaurs, giants, and house-elves are put into perspective due to the now-uneasy feeling many acquire when thinking of the exhibition of people as “freaks.” Digital Literature Review, vol. 3 (2016). © Ball State University.
